Where exactly do your custom business cards go after you meet a future client? Are you assuming your business cards are being kept with the contact you just met and gave cards to. Regardless if you have printed your cards the traditional way or designed them online, you know you need business cards that will achieve their purpose as you intended them to.
Business cards are the very first piece of marketing material your clients receive. Generally, business cards are the only marketing material your customers will see. They are the most important and therefor need to make a good first and lasting impression with your future customers.
To determine if your custom business cards are up to par with customers’ expectations, here are guidelines for this:
1- Sizing of the business card.
If your card is the American standard size of 2″X3.5″, you have a good chance that your business card will be kept by the receiver. These will fit into pockets, wallets, and the majority of business card holders. Going beyond this size increases the chance of them being thrown out.
2- The quality of the card stock.
Good quality thick card stock feels professional. Cheep thin stock feels cheep and ends up in the trash.
3- Quality of the ink print.
Drop liquid onto the design or text. If it runs, then discard the business cards.
4- Color of the card, distraction or attraction?
Done correctly colors can have a dramatic positive effect on your business cards. Just be careful not to over saturate the design with too much color as this make the card cluttered and too busy.
5- How valuable is the message or motto on the card?
Regardless if you do your business cards online or utilize a local printer your card should be able to accurately reflect your business or company message of what you do and what is offered to the customer. So take long hard look at your business card and ask yourself if you would hold on to them or trash them.
