Class Act prepares to hold NGEGD festival

Class Act prepares to hold NHEGD festival

Sara Prince

A good portion of Alvirne High School has seen Class Act perform “Bang Bang, You’re Dead.”  Many people may have also seen “The Incident at San Bajo.”  A few of you might have witnessed the production of “100.”
What do these shows all have in common?  They were all entries into the New Hampshire Educational Guild’s Drama Festival.  In this festival, school drama clubs gather at a high school in the region where they perform their shows and learn from each others’ critiques.
This year, Alvirne has been granted the honor of hosting one of these regional festivals on March 8, 2008.  AHS will be opening its doors to five other high schools who will each perform their production in our very own gymatorium.
Class Act will also be presenting their own show, “The Rules of Comedy.”
Tonya Lazdowski, crew member for “Rules” and Class Act’s secretary, is excited for Festival because she enjoys “meeting other theatre kids from the region and seeing them perform.”
“It’s going to be a metric ton of work,” says board and crew member Michael O’Keefe, “But it should be a blast!”
The event that will bring regional high schools to Alvirne and create a sense of community that can only be reached when students combine in an activity they love.
